About Bhavflow
Bhavflow shows one indicative national rate for gold and silver in India, in rupees, updated about every 30 minutes. It is free, with no ads, no login and no cookies.
How we calculate
Every rate on Bhavflow starts from the international spot price of gold and silver in US dollars, converted to rupees at the day's USD–INR rate. Before you buy, keep these three things in mind:
- Import duty is included: 15% on gold and 15% on silver (basic customs duty + AIDC), the duty India charges on imported bullion.
- A domestic market premium is included: about 1% on gold and 5% on silver. It is our estimate of the gap between the international price (with duty) and Indian benchmark rates, so the figures sit closer to what Indian markets quote.
- GST is not included: rates are shown without GST. Your jeweller adds 3% GST on the metal and making charges. Making charges, hallmarking and local premiums or discounts are not included either.
So the rate is an indicative national reference, not a shop price. Always confirm the final price with your jeweller. Want to estimate a piece of jewellery? Use the jewellery price calculator.
The formula
24K per gram = (USD per troy ounce ÷ 31.1034768) × USD–INR × (1 + import duty) × (1 + domestic market premium)
- 22K = 24K × 22/24. 18K = 24K × 18/24.
- Silver per 10 g and per kg are calculated from the per-gram silver price with the same formula.
- Import duty is basic customs duty plus Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC). Currently 10% + 5% = 15% on gold and 15% on silver (in force since 13 May 2026).
- The domestic market premium is an estimate, not an official figure: 1% on gold and 5% on silver. It reflects the gap usually seen between the formula above and Indian benchmark prices. We calibrated it against the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) PM benchmark rates (excluding GST) for several days in October 2026, where the gap ranged from about 0.2% to 1.7% for gold and 3% to 6% for silver. The same premium is applied to every date, so the price history stays comparable. The real premium changes from day to day and can turn into a discount, so on any given day Bhavflow can still differ from IBJA or your jeweller.
- GST (3%) is not included. Jeweller making charges, hallmarking and city-to-city price differences are not included.
- "Change" compares today's rate with the previous day's closing snapshot (India Standard Time).
Price history and duty changes
Historical rates use the import duty that applied on each date:
- From 24 Jul 2024: gold 6%, silver 6%.
- From 13 May 2026: gold 15%, silver 15%.
The jump in mid-May 2026 on the 1-year chart reflects the duty increase, not a move in world prices.
