Chandi ka bhav Chennai mein: many Chennai shops quote silver per gram, and the CWJA board rate on this page is per gram too. Per-gram and per-kg rates are the same thing (per kg ÷ 1,000), so use the per-kg rate for bars and the per-gram rate for kolusu, lamps and plates, then add making charges and 3% GST.
Chennai buyers purchase silver mostly for puja and gifting: kuthuvilakku lamps, plates, idols and anklets (kolusu) are sold by jewellers in T. Nagar and by wholesalers in Sowcarpet and the George Town area. The Chennai Wholesale Jewellers Association publishes a daily silver rate per gram, shown on this page.
Silver in Tamil Nadu is often quoted per gram as well as per kg. Puja articles are priced by weight plus a making charge; heavy cast lamps usually cost less per gram to make than fine filigree.
Both describe the same price: the per-gram rate is the per-kg rate divided by 1,000. Bars and coins are usually priced from the per-kg rate, kolusu and puja items per gram plus a making charge.
CWJA publishes the Chennai wholesale board rate; Bhavflow calculates one national indicative rate from international prices, USD–INR, import duty and an estimated premium. Both exclude making charges and GST.
Often 925 or a stated lower grade rather than 999. Ask for the purity and weight on the bill; a voluntary BIS silver hallmark with HUID can be verified in the BIS CARE app.
Bhavflow’s silver rate is a national benchmark for 999 fine silver (international price, USD–INR, import duty and an estimated domestic premium calibrated to IBJA benchmark rates), excluding GST. Jewellers and retail sites usually quote above this benchmark (making, margin, local premium), and 3% GST is added on the bill. Bhavflow does not show a retail price, because it differs from shop to shop.
Chandi ka bhav aaj ka, today’s silver rate, is at the top of this page: Bhavflow’s national indicative rate for 999 silver per kg and per 10 grams, excluding GST and making charges. The local association board rate is shown next to it with its date and source.
