Chandi ka bhav Lucknow mein: in Chowk and Aminabad, silver coins, payal and puja items are the big buys, and most shops quote the board rate per kg. For coins, compare the premium over that rate between a sealed refiner pack and a loose shop coin; for payal and bichhiya, compare the making charge per gram.
Lucknow’s Chowk, the historic sarafa market, sells silver jewellery, coins and puja items alongside gold, and Aminabad has many smaller silver shops. Silver coins are a big Dhanteras purchase in the city.
Most Lucknow shops quote silver per kg and sell coins at the day’s rate plus a premium. Check the purity stamp on coins and utensils and keep the bill for exchange.
Ask for the purity (payal are often below 999), the net weight and the making charge per gram, and get a GST bill. Hollow or very light payal can cost more per gram to make than solid ones.
Purity (999), weight, sealed packing and a GST invoice. Coins from a refiner or bank-branded packs carry a premium; when selling back, shops usually pay a little below the rate.
Usually only slightly, if at all: GST is the same 3%, and differences come from transport, insurance and each shop’s margin.
Bhavflow’s silver rate is a national benchmark for 999 fine silver (international price, USD–INR, import duty and an estimated domestic premium calibrated to IBJA benchmark rates), excluding GST. Jewellers and retail sites usually quote above this benchmark (making, margin, local premium), and 3% GST is added on the bill. Bhavflow does not show a retail price, because it differs from shop to shop.
