Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate. A Bengaluru jeweller’s board rate can be slightly higher or lower because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs, and the shop’s own margin; making charges and 3% GST come on top.
Like elsewhere in South India, Bengaluru jewellers usually quote 22K gold per gram, and many also show the 8-gram (sovereign) price.
Temple and antique-finish jewellery, popular in Karnataka, carries higher making charges than plain chains or bangles, so the final price per gram can vary a lot for the same gold rate.
Bengaluru’s traditional jewellery trade is centred on Avenue Road and Chickpet in the old city, while long-established jewellers and large showrooms are spread across Commercial Street, Jayanagar and Malleswaram.
Bengaluru’s old-city trading district around Avenue Road, Chickpet and Nagarthpet packs wholesalers, small manufacturers and retail jewellers into narrow lanes, while Commercial Street, Jayanagar and Malleswaram have established jewellery houses and chain showrooms. Most shops quote 22K gold per gram and often show the 8-gram price as well.
BIS-recognised Assaying & Hallmarking Centres operate in Bengaluru, including in the Chickpet and Nagarthpet area. Check each piece for the BIS logo, the purity and a 6-digit alphanumeric HUID, and verify the HUID in the BIS CARE app. Consumers can also have jewellery tested at any recognised centre for a fee.
Varamahalakshmi, Ugadi, Akshaya Tritiya and Deepavali are the main buying occasions, and many families buy a Lakshmi coin or a new piece of jewellery for the Varamahalakshmi puja. Jewellers run festival offers around these dates, usually on making charges.
Temple and antique-finish jewellery is popular in Karnataka but carries higher making charges than plain chains or bangles. Compare the total: net weight × rate, making charges and 3% GST. On studded pieces, ask for the stone weight separately so you pay the gold rate only on gold, check the HUID, and get buyback terms in writing.
More detail on purity and pricing: 22 carat gold rate and price guide.
The gold rate is similar. Old-city shops may negotiate making charges, while chain showrooms usually have fixed, printed charges and buyback policies. Compare the total bill and the HUID, not just the rate.
Mostly per gram for 22K gold, with the 8-gram price often shown too. North Indian cities more often quote per 10 grams.
Sone ka bhav aaj, today’s gold rate, is at the top of this page: Bhavflow’s national indicative rate for 22K, 24K and 18K gold per 10 grams and per gram, and chandi ka bhav aaj ka (today’s silver rate) per kg, all excluding GST and making charges. The local association board rate is shown next to it, with its date and a link to the source.
No. Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate, calculated from international prices, and shows it on every city page. Jewellers in Bengaluru may quote slightly different rates because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs and their own margins, and they add making charges and 3% GST.
