Why prices in Nagpur can differ

Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate. A Nagpur jeweller’s board rate can be slightly higher or lower because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs, and the shop’s own margin; making charges and 3% GST come on top.

Nagpur jewellers mostly quote per 10 grams for 24K and 22K and revise the board rate during the day as bullion prices move; any gap from the national rate comes from local premiums, transport and insurance, and the shop’s margin, not from tax, since GST is 3% everywhere.

Where to buy gold in Nagpur

Nagpur’s traditional gold and silver trade is concentrated in Itwari, the old wholesale district of the city, where the sarafa lanes sit among grain, cloth and utensil markets. Newer showrooms are spread along Sitabuldi, Dharampeth and the main roads of west Nagpur.

Itwari Sarafa
The old-city bullion and jewellery lanes, with family jewellers and wholesalers. Busy and good for comparing making charges; insist on a hallmarked piece and a GST invoice.
Sitabuldi and Dharampeth
Central shopping areas with branches of national and regional jewellery chains, usually with printed making charges.

Before you buy: hallmark, HUID and making charges

  • Check the BIS hallmark on every piece: the BIS logo, the purity grade (for example 22K916 or 18K750) and a 6-digit HUID. Since 1 April 2023, registered jewellers may only sell hallmarked gold jewellery that carries a HUID (small items under 2 g and kundan, polki and jadau pieces are exempt).
  • Verify the HUID in the BIS CARE app (Verify HUID): it shows the purity, the type of article and the jeweller’s registration, which should match your bill.
  • Making charges vary widely. As general guidance, machine-made chains and plain bangles are often in the range of about 3–10% of the gold value, while handcrafted, temple, antique or filigree work commonly runs 12–25% or more; some jewellers charge a flat amount per gram instead. Ask for the charge in writing and compare shops.
  • 3% GST is charged on the jewellery bill. Ask for a GST invoice that lists net weight, purity, rate per gram, making charges, HUID and tax separately.
  • Ask about buyback and exchange terms before you buy: most jewellers pay the day’s rate for the tested purity minus a deduction.

Gold rate in Nagpur: FAQ

Is the gold rate in Nagpur the same as in Mumbai?

Usually very close. Both follow the same national bullion market and the same 3% GST; small gaps come from transport and insurance costs and each jeweller’s margin. Compare the full bill, especially making charges.

What should I check on a hallmarked piece in Nagpur?

The BIS logo, the purity (for example 22K916) and the 6-character HUID. Verify the HUID in the BIS CARE app; the purity and article type shown there should match your bill.

Nagpur mein sone ka bhav aaj kya hai? (gold rate today in Nagpur)

Sone ka bhav aaj, today’s gold rate, is at the top of this page: Bhavflow’s national indicative rate for 22K, 24K and 18K gold per 10 grams and per gram, and chandi ka bhav aaj ka (today’s silver rate) per kg, all excluding GST and making charges. The IBJA benchmark (AM and PM) is shown next to it for comparison.

Does Bhavflow show a Nagpur-specific gold rate?

No. Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate, calculated from international prices, and shows it on every city page. Jewellers in Nagpur may quote slightly different rates because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs and their own margins, and they add making charges and 3% GST.
