Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate. A Jaipur jeweller’s board rate can be slightly higher or lower because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs, and the shop’s own margin; making charges and 3% GST come on top.
With kundan, polki and jadau pieces, much of the price is craftsmanship and stones. Ask for the net gold weight, the stone weight and how each is priced.
Kundan, polki and jadau jewellery is exempt from mandatory hallmarking under the BIS order, so these pieces may not carry a HUID. Buy from a jeweller you trust and get a detailed invoice.
Jaipur is one of the world’s leading centres for cutting and trading coloured gemstones, and is known for kundan, meenakari and polki jewellery. Johari Bazaar in the walled Pink City is its classic jewellery street.
Jaipur is one of the world’s leading centres for cutting and trading coloured gemstones, and is famous for kundan, meenakari and polki jewellery. Johari Bazaar in the walled Pink City is its classic jewellers’ street, with gem dealers along M. I. Road and Gopalji ka Rasta close by.
BIS-recognised Assaying & Hallmarking Centres operate in Jaipur. Plain gold jewellery sold by registered jewellers must carry the BIS logo, its purity and a 6-digit alphanumeric HUID that you can verify in the BIS CARE app, but kundan, polki and jadau pieces are exempt from mandatory hallmarking, so they may not have one. For such pieces, a purity test at a recognised centre and a detailed invoice matter even more.
Akha Teej (Akshaya Tritiya) is a major wedding and gold-buying day in Rajasthan, and Dhanteras, Diwali and the winter wedding season are the other peaks for Jaipur’s jewellers.
In gem-set pieces, the stones and the craftsmanship can cost more than the gold. Ask for the net gold weight, the stone weight and how each is priced, ask for a gemstone certificate for valuable stones, add 3% GST, and confirm the buyback terms for both the gold and the stones, which are often very different.

Not necessarily. BIS exempts kundan, polki and jadau jewellery from mandatory hallmarking. Plain gold jewellery sold by registered jewellers must carry the BIS mark, purity and a 6-digit HUID.
The gold rate is close to the national rate. What varies is the making charge and the price of stones, which can be much larger than the gold value in kundan and polki pieces.
Usually, because the work is done by hand and takes longer. Ask for a break-up of the gold weight and the stone or enamel weight: the gold rate should apply only to the net gold weight, with stones and making charges listed separately on the bill.
Sone ka bhav aaj, today’s gold rate, is at the top of this page: Bhavflow’s national indicative rate for 22K, 24K and 18K gold per 10 grams and per gram, and chandi ka bhav aaj ka (today’s silver rate) per kg, all excluding GST and making charges. The IBJA benchmark (AM and PM) is shown next to it for comparison.
No. Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate, calculated from international prices, and shows it on every city page. Jewellers in Jaipur may quote slightly different rates because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs and their own margins, and they add making charges and 3% GST.
